Hi – I’m Amy and I’ve given up trying to find perfection in my life – who needs perfection anyway! Along this journey called life I have discovered the joy of living in the imperfections. Join me on this journey to finding joy each day in the many imperfections that come my (our) way. No more keeping up with the Jones’, no more wishing for the appearance of a cover model, or anything else that society has called perfection and thus implied that we NEED. Instead I am choosing to life this wonderful life that God has given me that is filled with imperfections. Imperfections which only He can cover with grace and mercy, imperfections that make me stronger and smarter, imperfections that make life fun. I’ve created this site in order to detail the many imperfections that I face and how I imperfectly deal with them. In this thing called life I now strive to do the best I can with what I have, nothing more and nothing less. Some days are more successful than others that’s for sure, but all are have things that lead to joy.
Although I post about my weightless and healthy living journey – there are many things in our lives that take the very important first step in order to change. We change jobs, friends, where we live, paint colors, clothes and channels. In fact, change never happens without that all important first step. Some change is easy – grab the remote or choose a different shirt. Some change is hard – stop an addiction, leave a place you love. I understand that change is hard because I’ve lived it; but change is necessary to make the most out of life. Without change we get in a rut and become complacent. We live life that way because it is easy, not because it is best. I strive to do the best I can with what I have and that usually does not involve being comfortable for too long.
The Importance of Change
Changes can be big or small but all changes effect us in some way or another. Change your boredom into entertainment, change how you feel about yourself by changing your outfit, change your health by changing your diet, and so on. Sometimes you don’t see just how profoundly change has effected you until you can look back. Don’t let the unknown stop you from making a change.
Taking That First Step Toward Change
If there is something you’d like to change I encourage you to just do it. Take the first step and then focus on one step at a time. Don’t try to conquer it all at once (unless of course it is changing the channel) but break it up into simple, manageable steps. After you take that first step, put one foot in front of the other and just keep stepping. Baby steps, giant steps, you decide – but just keep stepping! Along my healthy living journey I aim for one day at a time, one meal at a time, one bite at a time. Some days I need those baby steps and focus on bite by bite and that is okay. With a little time and continuing to take those steps, the change that we once feared or dreaded becomes the new normal! Don’t wait for January 1 or some other symbolic day – just decide that today is the perfect day for change!
